ABOUT BARCELONA 

 

     

The capital of the state of Catalonia; Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain. It is located on the easthern coast of the Iberian Peninsula by the Mediterranean Sea.

History of Barcelona goes back as far as the Roman times. According to mythology, Hercules founded the city almost 400 years before the founding of Rome. However, the first documented proof regarding the establishment of this city dates back to the second century B.C. when the Roman Republic colonized Barcelona. Then a small town, Barcelona started to flourish during the industrial revolution. Modern times have seen this city emerge as one of the most modern cosmopolitan cities in the world.
